All Summer Long, and Then Some
Or, on zucchini, Dìdi, and the pop perfection of Sabrina Carpenter.
For me, summer is just getting started. I know, I know, it’s the first week back at school for kiddos, colleges are coming back into session, and Labor Day is almost here, marking the Legal End of Summer. But I’m squeezing every drop of summer I can out of these baking, lazy days, and keeping the season going until its proper end in September.
And, really, I’m not sure there’s a better place to maximize one’s summer than Detroit, Michigan. (Yes, that photo was taken here, sprawled out on the sand on a Belle Isle Sunday.) It’s hot, but not too hot, there’s always some kind of festival or market or impromptu street concert going on, and we have all the essentials of summer — beer, baseball, beaches (well, beach) — right here in the city. Come winter, I will be cursing this place, but mark my words: I love it right now.
